Motivation Motivation is said to be anything that drives you to strive to reach for your goals and dreams. Motivation is intrinsic or extrinsic. Intrinsic is motivation driven by interest or enjoyment. Extrinsic is motivation for reasons like money or competition. There are a lot of different things that will motivate a person. Some are good, some are bad. I understand motivation to be anything that encourages or drives you to do something. Contrary to what people think, everyone is motivated, but we are not all motivated by the same things. Some people do all they can to achieve their goals and are highly motivated, because they want to go far in life. On the other hand people who seem unmotivated may not have the encouragement or support they need. People who don?t try and achieve goals don?t lack motivation but don?t feel the need to try to reach high goals. People who have a bad home life often don?t try to be successful. This may be because they have low self esteem because of how their life is. Some kids have to be the parent in the household and care for their siblings because the parents are not doing their jobs. This tends to make reaching goals difficult and challenging. Kids in these situations tend to lack resources or when they do have access to them their too scared use them. Even kids from ?normal? homes or even upscale families tend to lack motivation. Kids who come from successful families sometimes feel pushed to do good and be ?perfect?. Kids who are pushed into sports are a good example of parents pushing them to do something they don?t want to do. Kids will often go along with their parents wishes but over time they lose their motivation will decrease, their grades may suffer, and they might get into the wrong crowd. When a kid feels pushed and pressured they may turn to drugs and alcohol. After that happen s it usually all goes downhill from there. After kids get into drugs it seems as though their life gets turned upside down if it was not already that way. When they get into drugs they do have motivation, motivation to get drunk and/or high again. While studying motivation in my third hour psychology class I learned a lot. Motivation is something we all have even if we may only have a little bit. Motivation makes doing the things you have to do to reach your goals easier.
